Immigration law is a rapidly expanding subject, and working as an immigration consultant or legal assistant is one of the greatest ways to break into it. Immigration consultants assist persons in navigating the laws and procedures governing immigration. As an immigration consultant, you'll be in charge of advising and representing individuals and groups during their immigration to Canada, as well as ensuring that the process runs smoothly. Immigration legal assistants aid immigration experts in the processing of cases, as well as the management of documentation and form submissions. Our Immigration Legal Assistant workshop equips newcomers to the field of immigration law with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the employment market. The curriculum also allows legal assistants to specialise in immigration and enhance their careers.
Students will be able to do the following after completing the workshop: • Understand who makes decisions in the implementation of the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations, as well as the Canadian Citizenship Act and Regulations. • Demonstrate knowledge and abilities in regards to the practical needs for application submissions, such as guidance, document checklists, application forms, and supporting documents. • Apply the necessary information and abilities to help a professional, effective, and efficient immigration practise. • Follow the professional code of ethics. • Demonstrate the attitudes, values, and ethical standards necessary to assist in an immigration consulting office or legal business. • Communicate with clients and individuals in a clear and effective manner.
The ILAC workshop is designed to prepare students to work as legal assistants in the field of immigration law so that they can get experience right away. You will not be qualified to work as an immigration counsellor after completing the workshop. Practicing as an immigration counsellor necessitates the completion of separate courses and certificates.
To qualify, you must meet the following requirements: • You are at least 21 years of age • Students are accepted at the discretion of the Registrar, who may require you to submit the following: • Transcripts of completed high school or post-secondary education • 1 or 2 professional references from your current or past employers • A written letter outlining your career goals and why you feel you will attend in the workshop • A written personal profile • Other forms of documentation to support your application
